What you need to know about California Senate Bill 368.

California Senate Bill 368 (CA SB 368) requires Sharp Health Plan — and other health plans — to mail an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) to your clientsto your employees every month they access care beginning
July 1, 2022. Below is important information you and your clientsand your employees should know.


What is an EOB?

An EOB is a statement summarizing the costs we cover for medical care or products and includes an individual’s deductible (if applicable) and out-of-pocket maximum balances. Beginning July 1, 2022, all members who access care, regardless of what type of plan they’re enrolled in, will receive an EOB for the month during which they accessed care. This information is also available by logging in to your Sharp Health Plan online account or by contacting Customer Care.

How will you notify members?

All subscribers will receive a postcard from Sharp Health Plan letting them know that beginning
July 1, 2022, every month they access care, they will receive an EOB.

What if members have questions about how to read their EOB?

You can refer clientsemployees with questions on how to read their EOB to our online guide. If they still have questions, please refer them to Customer Care.
