Ways to boost mental health in the workplace

See how The Neighborhood House Association’s strategies earned them a top recognition.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and at Sharp Health Plan, we’re pleased to share the ways our community partners support their employees’ well-being in the workplace. The Neighborhood House Association (NHA) provides our communities and their employees with necessary social services.

Sharp Health Plan and Best Health® are proud to partner with NHA to offer employees hands-on tools and activities to support their mental and physical health. Our combined efforts had a tremendous impact. In 2024, NHA became a Gold Recipient of the Bell Seal, a national certification program from Mental Health America. Congratulations, NHA!

Neema Black, NHA’s Wellness Director, shares how the organization earned this recognition and how their employees are benefiting from Best Health.

NHA’s road to gold

For NHA, wellness isn’t just part of their community offerings, it’s a significant part of their organization’s culture. “The Neighborhood House Association has been a pillar of hope and empowerment in the San Diego community for 110 years,” Black says, “Wellness is an integral part of our culture, and the mental and emotional well-being of our employees has been a high priority, especially during and after the pandemic.”
